Everything about this home is Green! The home is Energy Star certified, Water Sense certified and LEED for Homes Platinum certified. The design features many renewable energy systems and is highly energy efficient.
The home was specifically designed to fit into a challenging hillside lot; situated to take advantage of the sensational views of the mountains to the West. The landscaping is one of the most prominent
features of the home. The entire landscaping is xeriscape and Water Sense certified. Everything on the exterior, from the color scheme to the location of drives and landscaping are designed to help the home
blend into the hillside and the surrounding neighborhood. The renewable energy systems include geo-thermal radiant heating and cooling, a 10 kW photovoltaic system and a solar thermal system for heating
domestic hot water. The foundation is constructed of ICF (insulated concrete forms). The entire exterior envelop of the home is encapsulated in foam. Foam is sprayed on the sheeting of the roof to provide a conditioned attic space that is unvented to reduce utility cost and risk of fire. Two separate hot water loops are used to provide hot water quickly to each fixture and reduce the water waste. A HRV (heat recovery ventilator) is installed to exchange air in the home and provide point of use exhaust.
The interior design of the home is the classic Craftsman Style. All of the features of the home reflect the simple lines of the Craftsman Style. The home features high ceilings with crown molding, wide painted trim and smooth walls. The floors are porcelain tile and wide plank walnut. The cabinets are clear alder topped with premium granite throughout. The front door is a custom-made door that features Rocky Mountain Hardware and custom stain glass. The floor plan reflects the way the homeowners live. The areas that are used daily are on the main level. A grand staircase leads to family gathering and guest areas on the lower level. The lower level includes a guest laundry and garage. The elevator makes it convenient to move from floor to floor. Every child will want to visit “Nisse’s Home” under the stairs!
