Our Story

Pioneer West Homes – Southern Colorado’s Premier Custom Home Builder

We are excited to share our story with you. Thanks for taking the time to learn more about our company.

Pioneer West Homes was established in 2004 and quickly set a new standard in home building.

Our goal was to build high quality, energy efficient homes which include – as standard features – items that most builders considered as upgrades. We wanted to introduce a management philosophy which includes a detailed budgeting process, a schedule that dictates all aspects of the project, and a quality control system that ensures the integrity of the construction. Another goal was to provide a design and build process in-house. This aspect of the company philosophy allows our customers to easily change plans or design unique plans.

We began building standard plan homes in the Spring of 2005. In the first two years, we built and sold over 40 standard plan homes. In 2007, we decided to change the direction of our business and become a custom home builder. We built our first custom home for the 2007 Pueblo Parade of Homes. The home won 6 of the 9 judges awards in the $500,000 and above category.

We have continued building custom homes from 2007 to present. We are proud to be a part of many great communities in Southern Colorado. We consider Southern Colorado our home territory. We have built homes in the following counties: Cheyenne, Custer, El Paso, Fremont, Huerfano, Kiowa, Kit Carson, Las Animas and Pueblo.

We have proven ourselves as the leader in combining quality craftsmanship with innovative designs. For the past seven years, Pioneer West Homes – as a custom home builder – has won many awards in the Pueblo Parade of Homes. In addition, we have been awarded the prestigious People’s Choice Award for seven consecutive years. The People’s Choice Award is based on the votes of the people that tour the Pueblo Parade of Homes.

We are proud to be the leader in Southern Colorado in energy efficient home building. Pioneer West Homes continues its initial guiding principle of building efficient and well built homes. In 2009, Pioneer West Homes became the first builder in Pueblo County to join the U.S. Green Building Council and began certifying homes to the LEED for Homes standard. LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system, providing third-party verification that a building was designed and built using strategies aimed at improving performance across the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.

We are also the only builder in Southern Colorado to commit to building 100% of our homes to the Energy Star Version 3 Standard. Energy Star is a program led by the U.S. Department of Energy that provides third-party verification of green building standards.

We appreciate the opportunity to share our story with you. We look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
